ASSIGNMENT
This space must be able to give a reset and new energy to all teachers who has to go back to their students. A challenging task whereby the design focus was on the different area’s within one room. Work meets breaks, conversations are based on
chit-chat and informal conversations. And please don’t forget to create a cozy living room environment, post room and storage at the same time!
With all these different facilities it is usual to create zones based on the activity, this traditional way of thinking I didn’t listen too. I decided to split the space in two by using two different colors: yellow (RAL 1032) and grey (RAL 7035). And to make this decision clear I implemented in all details, even the ceiling!
By having the request to add social investment into the project the idea was mentioned to re-use the ceiling. Out of that first thought I developed a new ceiling design. The fiber cement panels were harvested elsewhere from the building and sawn by a local sheltered workshop, creating a spacial pattern.
Re-use of material doesn’t
have to be boring anymore!
